Stream of Atonement
by Paula Rendino Zaentz and C. M. Judge

Images depicting a middleclass
colonial woman of the
18th century cleaning take on
a ritual tone as period objects
and elements enhance the
images’ gently cascading
presence. Her mediation is
ours as we reflect on her
silent witness to the
“bloodshed” of her time and
our own. The physical doing
unlocks spiritual knowing.
